3 Tips to Keep Your Smile Bright in 2023

As 2022 comes to a close, it’s a great time to reflect on the year and see what we can do to make 2023 our best year yet! When it comes to new year resolutions, we don’t often think of our smile, but it’s just as important as staying fit or taking on new challenges. So we are here to remind you the best ways to keep your smile healthy! Below are our 3 top tips to make sure your smile doesn’t only improve in 2023, but last a lifetime!

Brush at least 2x a day

We know this sounds like common sense, but sometimes life gets in the way and we forget to stick to this rule. Brushing in the AM and PM ensures that all food and drink particles don’t stick around longer than they need to. For example, if you have a coffee for that 2pm feeling, brushing your teeth before bed helps ensure the stain from that mid day coffee is minimal. Brushing twice a day also helps keep your gums healthy and your breath fresh!

Floss at least once a day

Best practice is to floss after meals to make sure food doesn’t get stuck between your teeth. If this isn’t your speed, we recommend at least flossing at night during your before bed oral hygiene routine. Flossing will make sure any lingering food is removed, so it doesn’t sit in your mouth while you sleep and create additional bacteria. Make sure to be gentle while flossing, as too much pressure can damage your gums or make them bleed. 

Use mouthwash 2x a day

As part of your morning and bedtime oral hygiene routine, finish off the process by using mouthwash. Mouthwash will make sure your breath stays fresh by neutralizing the “bad breath” bacteria that tends to linger in our mouths. Mouthwash can also help prevent the build up of plaque and tartar around your teeth that contributes to gingivitis. Some people even carry a small bottle with them during the day and use it after meals! If that is not your speed, twice a day is more than enough to keep your smile healthy & bright!
